Collective Brands PLG is the leading marketer of high quality footwear in the United States and is a major marketer of athletic and casual footwear for children and adults. Their business was founded on the strength of the Stride Rite® children's brand, but today includes a portfolio of great American brands addressing different market segments within the footwear industry. In addition to the Stride Rite® brand, they market footwear under the following owned or licensed brands: Saucony®, Keds®, Robeez®, Sperry Top-Sider®.
The Company is predominantly a wholesaler of footwear, selling its products nationally in a wide variety of retail formats including premier department stores, independent shoe stores, value retailers and specialty stores. They market products in countries outside the United States and Canada through independent distributors and licensees. The Company imports substantially all of its products from independent resources in the Far East which manufacture footwear according to each brand's specifications and quality standards.
Job description and duties
The Financial Planning Analyst develops, summarizes and maintains product and sales analyses and reports, which are used by planning associates to manage and control their areas of responsibility. The analyst performs ongoing analytical work in the areas of sales, gross margin and inventory. He/she assists in the preparation of forecasts and business plans.
The Financial Planning Analyst is an innovative thinker and will assess each situation with an open mind and a willingness to be part of the solution. He/she will identify and seek out appropriate information and individuals needed to formulate a recommendation for management or team review. The Financial Planning Analyst is highly organized and has a keen sense for details.
• Drive the Planning & Analyses process. Partner with product development to
ensure margins and selling costs meet financial targets;
• Assist in the preparation of the weekly sales, margin and inventory and the
annual business plan;
• Prepare and distribute reports and analyses of weekly sales and margin results
versus budget and forecast with supporting analyses by brand, region, and
account;
• Review returns and allowances;
• Develop various ad-hoc analyses and reports as required to support regional
and brand objectives.
Requirements
Must have a Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting and 5+ years of accounting/analyst experience. The successful candidate must be highly organized, self-motivated, thinking in solutions, operationally aggressive and possess a positive attitude. This individual must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish and build positive working relationships with associates at various levels and functions, both within and outside the organisation. Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment, demonstrating flexibility, while still achieving accuracy and deadlines, is essential. This individual must possess strong working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word. Experience with RA-Trade, Access and/or Power Point Software a plus.
